Dear Mr. President,
The main activity of TC32 in this period was the very successful meeting we
had in Graz on 16 September. The minutes of that meeting, as well as other
information about TC32, are available to the general public on the TC32
web site
http://www.engmath.dal.ca/tc32/index.html.
The following actions were decided in the meeting:
- Improving and maintaining the TC32 website
- Developing guidelines for general risk assessment in geotechnical
engineering
- Developing a general glossary of terms for risk assessment and management
- Develop a bibliography for risk assessment and management
- Assembling an extensive set of case studies
- Assembling a set of course notes
- Organising or sponsoring a prediction symposium
Furthermore, we have established liaisons with the following groups:
- ASCE GeoInstitute's Risk Assessment and Management Committee, which is
chaired by TC32 Secretary G. Fenton; TC32 Core Member W. Roberds is also
a long standing member of this committee.
- Joint Committee JTC1 of ISSMGE - IAEG - ISRM on Landslides (chaired by
Prof. Robin Fell)
- Joint Committee on Structural Safety (chaired by Prof. Ton Vrouwenvelder)
Sincerely yours
Dr. Farrokh Nadim
Chairman, TC32
