TC32 RISK ASSESSMENT AND MANAGEMENT COMMITTEEMinutes |
The following is a short report by Prof. Tang on
the TC-32 meeting that took place at the ICASP, Sydney, December 15,
1999. Members present at the ICASP conference in Sydney included Honjo,
Akkaya, Favre, Ollsson and myself. We had an informal gathering on the morning of December 15 at the
Conference Parkroyal Hotel. Tang began by updating members on what took place in our last meeting
at Iguaçu Falls. Members present shared that the committee should move ahead to
promote probabilistic, reliability, and risk methodologies to the
geotechnical profession worldwide. The Committee should make a strong presence in the next ISSMFE at
Istanbul. In the meantime, Honjo and Tang will work together to focus on the
activities in Asia. The Southeast Asian Geotechnical Conference (SEAGC)
will be held in December 2001 in Hong Kong, in which Tang is the co
Vice-Chairman. Besides recruiting more papers on probabilistic approaches from
participants, our Committee could organize a short course on
probabilistic and risk approach in conjunction with the Conference. Ollson and Favre will focus on the activities in Europe.
