Geotechnical reliability analysis is a unique analysis that can sometimes be very different from structural reliability analysis. Most popular reliability methods were developed in the context of structural analysis. It is a question if these methods are ideal for geotechnical problems.
The main goal of this task group is therefore to provide an international platform for researchers to share experiences in implementing reliability methods and in characterizing geotechnical uncertainties by analyzing a common set of benchmark problems. It is hoped that through these benchmark problems, the cons and pros of various reliability methods can be identified, and standard procedures for geotechnical reliability analysis can be established.
